Soundtrip 3

Just to prove that I do have a life (no matter how little) outside of TVXQ, I bring to you one of my favorite Filipino songs of all time:

Sana Maulit Muli

My dad was listening to the English version last night, and it reminded me of how much I love this song. I can’t describe enough the beauty of this song. To make it short, it’s perfection. Hauntingly beautiful melody and poetic lyrics, composed and sang by one of the most distinguished and respected musicians in the Philippines, Mr. Gary Valenciano, sends me shivers and makes me want to sigh and daydream. It’s the kind of song that I would like to be sang at my funeral (shoot, I’m being attacked by a plot bunny…), because the lyrics and melody are, dare I say it, otherwordly.

The English Version Sang by Mr. Andrey Silva

Roughly translated as I Wish It Would Happen Again

I think Mr. Silva did a very good job on this. His voice succeeded in giving me shivers, too, and the translation was spot on. Usually, when you translate a song of another language to English or any other language, the song loses it’s intimate essence, but this song is almost the direct translation of the Filipino version, and the original impact is felt.

The drama “Sana Maulit Muli” which used this song as it’s OST was very good, too. Starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. I watched it for two days straight with my mom without sleeping back in late 2007, so based on that, you can guess how good it is. It was also aired in Taiwan (titled “Chances”), and I was so proud of that. I wish Filipinos could import more dramas, because we have some original and very good ones.
