Not Yet (self-composed)

This is a song I wrote back in 2010. I finally had the courage to re-record it again after the first video I recorded was stolen along with my first laptop (sob. I still haven’t gotten over that). The lyrics might sound familiar, because they are, and I’ve written the same exact words before in a post here somewhere, which I then decided to turn into a poem. I wasn’t satisfied with it, so I turned it into a song. It was a hard, rough journey filled with frustration and much hair-pulling to get into this (probably lacking) final product.

Not Yet

With one last smile and one last laugh
ou’re leaving without going back
it’s hard to let go when it’s clear
it still remains that thing I fear

you said we’ll always be together
flying high to stars and skies
I’d rather us two fall together
hold my hand, baby, hold my hand

Not yet, not now, I plead and pray
so many words there is to say
and songs to sing, don’t go away
Not yet, not now, if only I
could turn the world around for you
I’ll carry you, I’ll carry you

It’s hard to tell myself it’s alright,
that our days are over
I won’t forget, I’m holding on
look back, look back, don’t go

Not yet, not now, I plead and pray
so words there is to say
and songs to sing, don’t go away
Not yet, not now, if only I
could turn the world around for you
I’ll carry you, I’ll carry you

You promised me forever
What is it but just a word
This essence so deeply imbued
It’s opposite cuts like a sword

Not yet, not now, if only I
could turn the world around for you
I’ll carry you, I’ll carry you

Not yet, not now, I plead and pray
so words there is to say
and songs to sing, don’t go away
Not yet, not now, if only I
could turn the world around for you
I’ll carry you, I’ll carry you
I’ll carry you, I’ll carry you.

.

Have mistakes, wrong chords and all. That was my third take, and my throat was getting sore, so I just uploaded the best take there was.

Soundtrip 3

Just to prove that I do have a life (no matter how little) outside of TVXQ, I bring to you one of my favorite Filipino songs of all time:

Sana Maulit Muli

My dad was listening to the English version last night, and it reminded me of how much I love this song. I can’t describe enough the beauty of this song. To make it short, it’s perfection. Hauntingly beautiful melody and poetic lyrics, composed and sang by one of the most distinguished and respected musicians in the Philippines, Mr. Gary Valenciano, sends me shivers and makes me want to sigh and daydream. It’s the kind of song that I would like to be sang at my funeral (shoot, I’m being attacked by a plot bunny…), because the lyrics and melody are, dare I say it, otherwordly.

The English Version Sang by Mr. Andrey Silva

Roughly translated as I Wish It Would Happen Again

I think Mr. Silva did a very good job on this. His voice succeeded in giving me shivers, too, and the translation was spot on. Usually, when you translate a song of another language to English or any other language, the song loses it’s intimate essence, but this song is almost the direct translation of the Filipino version, and the original impact is felt.

The drama “Sana Maulit Muli” which used this song as it’s OST was very good, too. Starring Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson. I watched it for two days straight with my mom without sleeping back in late 2007, so based on that, you can guess how good it is. It was also aired in Taiwan (titled “Chances”), and I was so proud of that. I wish Filipinos could import more dramas, because we have some original and very good ones.

Stand By U

I just want to share this song…

Video credits go to jejupoh@youtube

My boyfriends all-time favorite band, DBSK, or in this case, Tohoshinki, just releases the MV (drama version) of their newest single “Stand By U,” and the song is by far officially my ultimate favorite Tohoshinki song.

I remember hearing the song preview (I think it was almost a month ago) the first time. I was in the middle of procastinating, Youtube-ing my boyfriends DBSK videos, and when I clicked on the song I accidentally said a curse word (it starts with “S”), which is just a much more intense equivalent of “Wow.”

I think I like this better than “Doushite Kimi Wo Suki Ni Natte Shimattan Darou” (longest name of a song EVER). I was, at first, a bit disappointed by the MV this morning, but the more I watched it, the more I grew fond of it. The song itself was awesome. The good beat plus the beautiful melody (I especially like the chorus) plus the heart-breaking lyrics plus the wonderful voices of my boyfriends the guys equals BREATHTAKING… This song just ROCKS and I hope the guys get another Oricon Weekly… better yet, an Oricon. Monthly! Yeah, that’s right! Give them an Oricon Monthly!

Tohoshinki FTW!

SmileyBunny: …Since when do you use “FTW?”$

Someday

Remember my poem “A Friend’s Farewell” that I said I turned into a song about a year ago? Well, as a result of severe procrastination of studying and a request from my friend Jhen, I recorded it and uploaded it in Youtube. Here it is, entitled “Someday”…

Lyrics:

Someday (by Maria Erika D. Enriquez)

I always knew there will be a time for us to say goodbye
Here on Earth, everything’s ought to change
Even our friendship will fade out soon
It’s hard to admit, but it’s true

I know that if I go away today
Nothing will ever be the same for us again
But I’ll never forget the memories
And the dreams we share

That when we meet again someday
Even if we never could bring back the broken bond forever
We can still make a better bond, greater and stronger
We’d still be best of friends till the end of the end
I’ll wait…

My mind is young and unrefined, my heart frail and weak
I don’t really understand things so sharp and sleek
But let me tell you how you made me understand
How you made my narrow and child-bounded mind expand

You hold a part of me that I can’t live without
You made me see what life is all about
You’re not the perfect person all around
You’re not the perfect friend who never makes a sound

But I don’t care, I love you and that’s what matters now
I do not even need to make out a promise or a vow
You may not be the nicest nor the strongest one around
But you help me stand up when I fall on the ground
Tall and proud

Together we’ve been traveling in this long road of life
But here comes a point where the road’s been cut by a knife
The once one way had been divided by a cross
I don’t want to part but in this life I’m not boss

Before I step inside that metal bird
Before I finish packing up my jeans and shirts
Before I step outside the borders of our home
I have to make sure that you won’t feel alone

I can’t come back at once when you start to cry
Nor will I be there to boost you up when you become too shy
Just remember that you’ll never be alone
Even if I’m far away, in your heart I’m home

….Again someday…
Even if we never could bring back the broken bond forever
We can still make a better bond, greater and stronger
We’d still be best of friends till the end of the end
I know we’ll meet again someday
Even if we never could bring back the times we’re not together
I know you’ll wait for me and someday I’d be back
We’d still be best of friends till the end of the end
We’d drink beer, eat and laugh and I’ll never sing this song again
Someday
I’ll wait for that day
When we’re together again
I’m gonna be waiting for it
Waiting for it
Waiting for it…

It’s actually my fifth take and I still messed up a few lines, and my voice also cracked (how embarrassing…). But, yeah…

Dedicated to Boyle and Archimedes batch 2007  and the other graduating classes to come.

=)
